DaySpring: 12 Day Holiday Countdown

Back in March, I wrote about the DaySpring Easter Holiday Countdown.  Here are some pictures from when we started the countdown leading up to Easter.

On Day One, Micah opened the first drawer and inside of it was a picture tile. The included guide booklet explains each tile and tells a story related to the holiday.  It also has scripture verses and discussion questions.

The larger drawer at the bottom holds all of the tiles for each of the three holidays.

When you return the drawer to its space, you just have to make sure the correct scene is facing outward.  There’s a scene for Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. You continue doing this each day for 12 days.

On the last day, you have a complete picture of the scene.IMG_9534

Easter has passed, but I can bring this out again for Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Great purchase and fun activity for our family.

Easter: Kindergarten Easter Egg Hunt

The Kindergarten classes are having an egg hunt next week and the parents were asked to bring in a basket for their child, with six plastic eggs filled with candy or a small toy.  The parents are going to hide the eggs around the Kindergarten playground for the egg hunt.

I went to the 99cent Only Store and picked up a bag of jumbo-sized plastic eggs and a bag of green shredded paper to add to the basket.

I filled the eggs with a snack pack of gummy bears and some Mrs. Grossman’s Easter Egg stickers.  The roll of stickers were given to me from a friend who didn’t want them anymore.  I got the larger plastic eggs so I could fit the snack pack inside of it.IMG_5364

This basket was given to Micah last Easter from his Godmother and her family.  I love that we can use it all year around.  The shredded paper grass can be reused or recycled too.

We’re all set for the Kindergarten Easter Egg Hunt next week!IMG_5367

DaySpring: Easter Holiday Countdown

Easter is March 31st and DaySpring has this great product that I’m excited to show the kids this week.  It’s the Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter – 12 Day Holiday Countdown.

About the 3-Holidays-in-1 Countdown: For the 12 days leading up to Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, you and your children or grandchildren will enjoy reading an inspirational story and building a scene relating to the big day.  Numbered drawers are turned to reveal each holiday scene.  Drawers can hold small treats as well as the included picture tiles.  A guide booklet explains each tile and tells a story related to the holiday. The reading for each day incorporates a Scripture and questions to prompt family discussion.  Includes 3 sets of picture tiles – 12 for each holiday.  Tiles provide a visual tool to help children relate Biblical truths to the holiday’s story.

We begin the countdown to Easter on Wednesday, March 20.  I think the kids will have fun turning the drawers around and reading the tiles.  Should I include treats in the drawers too?  Stay tuned for more pictures.
