About God’s Amazing World!
Gracie and her cousin Bo explore the seven days of Creation, all without leaving the backyard! As Gracie tells the story of how God made the world, she and Bo find evidence of each day’s work right there around them. When they get to Day 2, the day God created the sky, they take a moment to cloud watch. Day 3 leads them to play in the water, and on Day 6, they imitate the cows and pigs and lions God made.

This sweet, clever picture book by Eileen Spinelli overflows with enthusiasm for God’s Creation, and children will catch the excitement and will begin to view their own surroundings as a tour of God’s lovely world. Parents can use this beautiful book to introduce children to the concept of God’s work in the world and to encourage appreciation, understanding, and stewardship of the world around us.

My Review God’s Amazing World! is a cleverly written book that introduces its young readers to how God created our beautiful world.  I really enjoyed reading this story with my kids, ages 2 and 6.  My 2 year old loved looking at the illustrations and pointing everything out to me.  Each page is filled with vibrant drawings that showcase God’s beauty in the things that surround us.

When Gracie and Bo talk about the first day and how God made the light and the dark, Bo says he is scared of the dark.  I appreciate that they mention this in the story, because my son is sometimes scared of the dark.  Then Gracie says, “Next time you are afraid, remember this – God made the dark.  Both day and night are good.”  I reminded my son of this and hopefully, this will bring him comfort whenever he is afraid of the dark.

I love that for each day, the book gives examples of Gracie and Bo’s activities that went along with what they just learned…like learning that God created the sky and then laying on the grass while looking at the sky and clouds.  I can see myself doing some of these things when talking to my kids about Creation and also coming up with some of our own ideas.  This is a fun book and I hope you will share it with your kids too!

  1. the book looks great! We try to talk with our daughter about the things we see around our neighborhood – flowers, trees, fruit growing on the trees, etc. And at night if we’re in the car, she points out the moon and stars and we remind her of who made them all 🙂

  2. We have been doing catechism questions lately. Who made you? God! What else did God make? All things! Meredith likes to shout and sing her answers. 🙂
