Finally getting around to writing about the New Sprouts Chinese New Year Celebration that Micah’s Chinese School hosted. This annual fundraiser and celebration included a luncheon, performances, kids activities, raffles and a silent auction. Here are pictures from the event.
There were several vendors at the event, like Mama Tong Soup. She had samples of her Herbal Chicken Soup for people to try and it was very tasty. One of the silent auction items was the New Mama Care package with a gift card to Rockridge Kids (a kids store in Oakland). The soups in the care package looked good so I placed my bids for it…and eventually won that auction! The soups are packaged in vacuum sealed bags and are frozen. I haven’t tried the soups yet but when I’m ready, I can easily defrost the soup in the fridge and then heat it up in a pot. I can’t wait to use the Rockridge kids gift card too. 🙂
I also won these silent auction items. A big thanks to my mother-in-law who stepped in at the last second to place the winning bid for me. Isn’t this pair of Livie & Luca shoes adorable? The kids will enjoy this book and cd too. The story is told and sung in both English and Mandarin.
Micah’s grandpa and uncle both won raffle prizes. His Uncle Nick won the Grand Prize! It was a $100 gift certificate that is good toward any New Sprouts weekend mandarin class or 1 week of Chinese Summer Camp, and he gave it to Micah. Thanks Uncle Nick! We will be using the gift certificate for summer camp.
Micah is having fun in his mandarin class and I think he will really enjoy his one week of summer camp there. The theme for that week of camp is “Cooking.” How fun is that?!
